Ignoring Clint Eastwood's advice in "Dirty Harry" that opinions, like certain body parts, are best kept to yourself.
Better to Give Than Receive, Right?
Have you ever had the experience of giving someone a gift of something that you know they don’t have? Logically you think they would want this gift, but somehow it doesn’t hit the spot for them? This can happen with a loved one just as easily as it can with someone you know less well.Have you ever had the experience of giving someone a gift of something that you know they don’t have? Logically you think they would want this gift, but somehow it doesn’t hit the spot for them? This can happen with a loved one just as easily as it can with someone you know less well.

For many years, I've sent gifts to family members, acquaintances, and friends, thinking they could use the item I was sending. I seldom heard back, but when I did, they usually appreciated the gift. Because my wife and I traveled in our motorhome after retirement, it was seldom we actually landed in a church somewhere on Sunday, and decided a long time ago to cut out the middle-man and give directly to the people, or groups, that needed help. I expanded that theory to include gifts to friends, sending them items I thought they could really use, and especially if I got a heck of deal on the item.

For the last couple of years, I've been sending some things to an old friend in Texas who had a stroke, and gets around the house with a walker but can no longer drive, or even use his computer. He's been a friend of mine for years, and since his stroke I've sent him a number of things, and he seems to be appreciative and says he can use them.

But, a few months I sent him an item I thought he could use, I learned in a recent phone call when I asked him how that device was working out, and told me he really couldn't use it, and gave it away. It was more than I usually spend, I wish he'd sent it back to me. Oh well ... A lesson learned.

Overall, it's been an enjoyable thing, running into a heck of deal on something, and if I can't use it myself, or even if I can, then buying two so I have one to give away.

Now, what am I going to do with those two electric rechargable toilet bowl brushes I just got at 70% off?

The snow-covered lands of the Arctic have long been home to the Inuit and Yupik people, two remarkable indigenous groups who have thrived in one of the world's harshest environments. Among their many ingenious inventions, the humble snow goggles stand out as a fascinating example of human adaptability and innovation.

It wouldn't be Labor Day without the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. MDA is a nonprofit working to defeat muscular dystrophy and 40 related diseases through research, support services and public health education. From 1966 until when it ended in 2009, Jerry Lewis raised over $2 billion to fight the disease. And my wife and I watched it almost every year.

You may have seen some of the most common types of doodle dogs that have gained popularity in recent decades. Every doodle dog is a little different, based on the type of Poodle parent (Standard, Miniature, or Toy Poodle) and the breed they’re mixed with.

These days there are few things more refreshing than watching someone famous refuse to tell us what they think. In 2018, Parton was being interviewed by ABC's ''Nightline'' when the conversation turned toward Donald Trump and the infamous Access Hollywood tapes. The interviewer wanted to know what she thought about them. Dolly wasn't interested.

Research shows the average smartphone user checks his or her device 150 times per day, or about once every six minutes, even on long weekends.
